- If you like this program, don't worry about sending any money; this
- is not "begware". JSSC is absolutely free, no strings attached, no
- copyrights, nothing.
-
- Well ... maybe it's not fully string-free. You see, NightOwl Software
- also produces MEX-PC, perhaps the most versatile communications program
- available for DOS machines, and we're including this file in hopes that
- you'll take a look at what we have to offer!
-
- MEX-PC is a full-featured communications package that runs on the IBM-PC,
- Heath/Zenith Z-100, Data General-DG1, Tandy 2000, and a host of CP/M-80
- 8-bit computers (including Kaypro, Osborne, Bondwell, many others).
- Supported file transfer protocols include XMODEM/CRC (as well as XMODEM/
- checksum), MODEM7-batch, YMODEM-batch, all 1K extensions to both XMODEM
- and YMODEM, Kermit, Compuserve 'A', and 'dumbterminal' filesave and transmit.
-
- MEX-PC is both menu-driven and command driven (your choice). The menu-
- driven mode is similar to the Lotus (TM of Lotus Development Corp.)
- standard; the command processor resembles the DOS command level. The
- command processor couples to the script processor, forming perhaps the
- most powerful script language available in a communications program.
- This language supports string and numeric variables, block-structured
- IF/ELSE/ENDIF, subroutines, nesting, and many useful synchronization
- commands, such as WAIT-STRING, WAIT-TIME/DATE, WAIT-SILENCE, etc.
-
- MEX-PC also features re-defineable keys (that may be used to transmit
- text sequences) -- files of keys may be saved to and loaded from disk;
- XON-XOFF synchronization with a remote host; time delays during text
- transmission; ability to run DOS programs without leaving MEX-PC (and
- thus, not losing the in-memory buffer); DOS services such as erase,
- rename and type file; built-in context-sensitive help; multiple alt-
- ernative long-distance service support (ALDS); a STAT function that
- allows querying and changing more than 40 system variables; time and
- date support; full DOS pathname support; multiple 40-entry phone dir-
- ectories; 'list' dialing (useful for calling frequently-busy BBS sys-
- tems); full color support (IBM and Z-100 only); 240-page ring-bound
- manual; much more. Plus, MEX-PC is written in 100% assembly language,
- for maximum possible speed.
-
- An optional version ("MexPack") supports remote operation with pass-
- word access and the ability to run DOS commands and 'well-behaved'
- DOS programs remotely. The MexPack version also includes a full-featured
- VT-100 emulator, along with emulators for Televideo 910/920/925, ADM3A,
- and Data General Dasher (TM) D-100 and D-200.
-
- MEX-PC is $59.95 ($99.95 for the MexPack version) -- plus $5 shipping
- and handling (Wisonsin residents add 5% sales tax). The Z-100 version
- can be purchased for BOTH sides of the Z-100 -- 8085 and 8088 -- for
- only $129.95.
