  11.     This program was written for computers running MS-DOS.  It was
  12. designed on a 286 machine with an EGA card and a color monitor. 
  13. No provision has been made for installation using different
  14. graphics adaptors.  In addition to the 286, I also run it on a
  15. 80C88-based laptop (with CGA graphics), and it is noticeably
  16. slower, especially during disk access and chemical searches.  My
  17. apologies to any XT users out there; keep in mind, however, that
  18. the chemical database contains nearly 1300 chemicals, including
  19. synonyms, which accounts for the speed (or lack thereof) of the
  20. searches on slower machines.

  42.     Note that there are two doc files included.  The first is a
  43. "straight" ASCII file.  The second contains embedded printer codes
  44. for use with the shareware program PAMPHLET (C), a Hewlett-Packard
  45. LaserJet Series II printer, and softfonts.  PAMPHLET (C) will print
  46. any text file on both sides of the paper (with 2 passes) in
  47. pamphlet form; version 3.1 will allow the use of softfonts using
  48. embedded code.  The fonts used in the REACT.PAM file were Times
  49. Roman 10 point (normal, bold, and italics), and Helvetica 12 and
  50. 18 point (both bold).  I also changed the HP escape character to *.
  51. If you have never used PAMPHLET (C), I suggest you download it and
  52. give it a try.  It is well worth it.  I print my MSDS list every
  53. month using an older version of PAMPHLET (C) from within dBASE IV,
  54. and it makes a very nice 6 page pamphlet, complete with cover, instead
  55. of a 22 page stack of paper.

  57.     This software was prepared by a government employee using
  58. government equipment, and is provided as freeware.  It may be
  59. freely copied and distributed.  I do ask, however, that all the
  60. files listed above be kept in the archive file, and that no
  61. modifications be made to the program (since my name is on it!).
