After being healed and having his life extended by fifteen years, Hezekiah entertained messengers from Babylon. Perhaps attempting to court Babylon's favor, he foolishly displayed to them the full extent of Judah's wealth. God revealed through Isaiah that the Babylonians would one day carry away everything they had seen. (Cf. 2 Kings 20:12-19; Isa. 39:1-8)
