- Copyright
- =-=-=-=-=
- The magazine engine is copyright Lovell Fuller and Ian Scott 1995. If you
- would like to use it, don't; instead check out “PressPack”, our disc-mag
- designer. The individual articles are copyrighted by the author(s). This
- program is freeware and is subject to limited distribution. All files
- contained in this directory may be copied as long as:-
-
- (a) You do not alter any file in any way.
- (b) It remains as an archived file.
- (c) You do not charge more than £1.50 for it.
-
- Note to the proprietor(s) of Skyfall PD: We believe you charge too much,
- and provide a service which is less than satisfactory. Therefore, you are
- not allowed to distribute Spectrum issue three. If Skyfall is caught
- selling this program, we will sue you. You may redeem yourselves; please
- write. Having said that, Spectrum issue three isn't a font... (allegedly).
-
- How to use Spectrum issue three
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
- You will need to un-archive the “Spectrum3” archive before you run it. To
- do this, simply drag the “!Spectrum3” filer sprite (the Pink Floyd style
- icon) to a filer window for a blank high density floppy disc or your hard
- disc.
-
- Spectrum issue three supports interactive help supplied by Acorn's “!Help”
- application (found in the ResourceFS directory). If you need help using
- the desktop front end, then load this and move the pointer about to find out
- more. If you load up Spectrum issue three with the 'H' key held down, then
- “!Help” will be automatically loaded for you.
-
- The preferences window allows you some element of control over the
- appearance/usage of Spectrum issue three. You can turn the iconbar
- animation on or off, pause the music on return to the desktop and choose
- whether or not to lose the article from memory when returning to the
- desktop.
-
- Spectrum issue three allows you to print articles. You will need to load a
- printer driver to do this (found on Apps disc 1 supplied with your machine).
- You must also actually load an article, as well as deselect the “Minimize
- article memory” preference.
-
- If you find the loading of articles is slow, then increase the size of your
- font cache, using the Task Manager, or simply buy a Risc PC.
-
- To get to the magazine itself, simply click Select on the iconbar icon. To
- get extra help on the viewer once out of the desktop, click Menu, and select
- the “Help” option.
-
- RISC OS 2, 1Mb, ARM 2 and 800K disc drive users
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
- Issue three of Spectrum requires RISC OS 3.10+, and at least 2Mb of memory.
- All members of Sounds Riscy have 2Mb+ RISC OS 3.10+ machines. We strongly
- suggest that you upgrade to RISC OS 3 with 2Mb+ of memory. The magazine can
- be run from the archive on 800K floppy drive machines with plenty of free
- memory, but if you can use high density floppy discs then we recommend that
- you transfer the files from the “Spectrum3” archive to a blank 1.6Mb disc
- (or better still, a hard disc); Spectrum issue four will probably fill two
- discs. As for your ARM chip, it doesn't matter what you've got, 'cos it
- runs nice and smooth on any Acorn 32-bit machine (tested on ARM2, ARM250,
- ARM3, and ARM610), even with the music going!
-
- Sounds Riscy need you!
- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
- Can you code, are you an artist, or do you want to be a reviewer for
- Spectrum issue four? If the answer is yes, then please send an example of
- your work to us on disc, and we will reply (and send some Sounds Riscy
- stuff) within a couple of days.
