  18. If the TGV Multinet software has been acquired to replace another vendor's
  19. product, the invocation of the SMTP mailer will probably be different.
  20. For example,

  22.        using old vendor's software:  WXYZ%"address", 
  23.        using Multinet:               SMTP%"address".

  25. However, the change can be made transparent to the users by adding the 
  26. following logical:

  28.   $   DEFINE /SYSTEM /EXECUTIVE_MODE  WXYZ_MAILSHR  MULTINET:SMTP_MAILSHR

  30. This will allow users to reply to mail received when the old software was
  31. in place and to continue to use procedures and distribution lists that
  32. have the old SMTP mailer invocation defined.  Transparency is vital to 
  33. keeping the user community happy, which is vital to the career stability
  34. of the support staff!

  36. However, on the negative side, a BIG difference using the TGV Multinet
  37. software is that only one address is allowed per SMTP%"address" field.
  38. For example, 
  39.  
  40.   using old vendor's software:  WXYZ%"user1@address,user2@address", 
  41.   using Multinet:               SMTP%"user1@address",SMTP%"user2@address".
  42.  
  43. Many other products allow multiple addresses and TGV's limitation has
  44. caused us some grief.
