- Here is a typical (abridged) output from MULT SHOW/ARP on my main server:
-
- >MultiNet ARP table:
- >Host Network Address Ethernet Address Arp Flags
- >-------------------- ---------------- ---------
- >[UNKNOWN] (IP 142.76.1.204) 00:00:C0:AE:95:58 Temporary
- >[UNKNOWN] (IP 142.76.1.193) 00:00:C0:A6:94:58 Temporary
- >ROBIN.SUNNYBROOK.UTORONTO.CA (IP 142. AA:00:04:00:68:F0 Temporary
- >SRRTR.SUNNYBROOK.UTORONTO.CA (IP 142. AA:00:04:00:7D:F0 Temporary
- >SRPC12.SUNNYBROOK.UTORONTO.CA (IP 142 00:00:C0:9B:25:1C Temporary
- >SRPC16.SUNNYBROOK.UTORONTO.CA (IP 142 00:00:C0:90:1A:2B Temporary
- >[UNKNOWN] (IP 142.76.1.194) 00:00:C0:44:94:58 Temporary
- ...etc
-
- All of the [UNKNOWN] addresses are in fact perfectly well known, and are
- decoded properly when I do MULT NSLOOK/TY=PTR xx.1.76.142.IN-ADDR.ARPA. So
- how come SHOW/ARP isn't decoding them? Is this a real problem or nothing to
- worry about? It doesn't really bug me, although it WOULD be useful if
- [UNKNOWN] flagged, at a glance, hosts which really weren't in the DNS,
- 'cause that would mean I'd misconfigured something.
-
- Thanks,
