  19. The thing about US networks is that the service available is variable -
  20. in remote parts of the US (as far as I know) they still have magneto
  21. phones where you crank a handle to attract an operator...

  23. For those interested the features offered by Caller Display (the name CLID services will be marketed under) are expected to be:

  25. - display CLID of incoming call
  26. - withhold ID on either a per call or per line basis (for anonymity)
  27. - trace the last call received 
  28. - set up call to last caller that rang (no more "missed" calls)
  29. - call back when free (on an engaged number)
  30. - selective call forwarding (diverts incoming calls from specified
  31.   numbers)
  32. - selective call barring (bar calls from specific numbers, numbers
  33.   without CLID or only accept calls from certain numbers)
  34. - priority call -special ring tone for specific caller(s)
  35.  
  36. Initial services are expected to be offered nationally in 1994.

  38. All this from press release stuff.  I don't know any more, but I hope
  39. it gives a perspective on what will be available.
