  31. Cecil Adams in _More of the Straight Dope_ has the facts:

  34. peace symbol was completed February 21, 1958, by British commercial
  35. artist Gerald Holtom. Holtom had been commissioned by the Campaign for
  36. Nuclear Disarmament, headed by philosopher Bertrand Russell. [...]

  38. for Nuclear Disarmament."
