Subject: higher education admission standards in the ex-ussr

    I have a friend who is beginning  research on a dissertation dealing
with admission standards expected for non-foreign students in various
countries. One of the countries is the ex-Soviet Union(all republics),the
others are Germany,Japan,Britain,and China. What he wants to know is "what are
the rules and standards for admission into colleges and universities for
students in these countries" Also information on the number of successful
applicants and the number of total spaces in the colleges of the ex-Soviet
Union for these students would also be appreciated. In other words, he wants
data on admission as well as background type information on the proceedures of
admission. Thanks for any help of this nature that you may be able to give.
