  22. Well, maybe so. Today those "tamtams" boast about being the descendants
  23. of a great civilization, and the cradle of democracy. Howevers there
  24. are serious doubts in history for both claims.

  26. First of all, several historians and anthropologists have produced
  27. substantial evidence with respect to any connection between 
  28. present-day Greece and ancient Greece. The prominent German
  29. historian Jacop P. Fallmerayer published a treatise in 1830
  30. and made the assertion that during the Middle Ages slavik
  31. tribes poured into Greece and annihilated the entire Greek
  32. population. Truly, can anyone see any resemblance between 
  33. that beacon of ignorance and "paliks", and the ancient Greeks
  34. who created a civilization?

  36. As for democracy, in its entire history Greece has never been
  37. a democracy - except for the last 18 years.
