  33. Dear Fellow Countrymen,

  35.      We are tremendously pained at seeing that Mr. Zhao Hai-qing's
  36. resignation has aroused so much controversy among Chinese students
  37. and scholars. The controversy seems to have the tendency of getting
  38. worsened. This is a regrettable state of affair that none of us
  39. wish to see, because it is very likely to undermine our unity and
  40. concerted efforts.
  41.      We Chinese have a wise saying: "It is better to withdraw the
  42. fire from underneath the boiling pot than trying to cool the soup
  43. by stirring it (Yu2 Qi2 Yang2 Tang1 Zhi3 Fu2, Bu4 Ru2 Fu3 Di3 Chou1
  44. Xin1). At this moment, we cannot afford any controversies and
  45. disunity. An advisable way to restore peace and unity is to
  46. reconsider Mr. Zhao Hai-qing's resignation. And a still better way
  47. is not to accept it. The best way is to ask him to withdraw it.
  48.      Some people believe that we Chinese are weak in resolving
  49. internal differences through negotiations and compromises. We are
  50. sure that under the wise leadership of IFCSS Headquarters, we can
  51. prove them completely wrong.
  52.      Best wishes for a stronger unity among Chinese students and
  53. scholars.
