- Dear Fellow Countrymen,
-
- We are tremendously pained at seeing that Mr. Zhao Hai-qing's
- resignation has aroused so much controversy among Chinese students
- and scholars. The controversy seems to have the tendency of getting
- worsened. This is a regrettable state of affair that none of us
- wish to see, because it is very likely to undermine our unity and
- concerted efforts.
- We Chinese have a wise saying: "It is better to withdraw the
- fire from underneath the boiling pot than trying to cool the soup
- by stirring it (Yu2 Qi2 Yang2 Tang1 Zhi3 Fu2, Bu4 Ru2 Fu3 Di3 Chou1
- Xin1). At this moment, we cannot afford any controversies and
- disunity. An advisable way to restore peace and unity is to
- reconsider Mr. Zhao Hai-qing's resignation. And a still better way
- is not to accept it. The best way is to ask him to withdraw it.
- Some people believe that we Chinese are weak in resolving
- internal differences through negotiations and compromises. We are
- sure that under the wise leadership of IFCSS Headquarters, we can
- prove them completely wrong.
- Best wishes for a stronger unity among Chinese students and
- scholars.
