- First of all, I don't she looks mean. But even so (and I do agree that
- Bob Dole looks kinda mean :-), sometimes, especially in executive ranks,
- you _have_ to be somewhat mean to get the job done, or at least be able
- to stand your ground in the face of very serious confrontation. Being
- able to stand up to confrontation is a hard issue for many professional
- women. I have reason to hope that Hillary Clinton has this ability, and
- for this I am _glad_!

-
- I resent you thinking that she is _NOT_ entitled and/or does not deserve
- a position of power because she sleeps with Bill Clinton. Sheesh.
-
- I have read at least two analyses (one in a newspaper, one in a magazine)
- that stated that, based on her qualifications and experience, Hillary
- Clinton would be on a VERY short list of people to be considered for a
- cabinet post if she weren't married to Bill Clinton. Everything I've ever
- read about her indicates that she's an extremely talented lawyer (and,
- right or wrong, most politicians, political staffers, and lobbyists in
- this country are lawyers).
-
- Yes, you voted for Bill Clinton, not for Hillary, but you didn't vote for
- Warren Christopher, or George Stephanophalous (sp?), or Lloyd Bentsen (unless
- you live in Texas) or any of the many other people appointed to the White
- House staff or to cabinet positions or staffs. You trusted Bill Clinton's
- judgment to choose the right people. I trust his judgment about Hillary's
- heading up the task force on health care. This is a critical issue, she's
- a capable and interested person. If Bill trusts her to head the group, I
- think that's great - not because she's female, but because she's supposed
- to be _good_. I hope she proves it and benefits the entire United States
- in the process!
-
- BTW, if my company would have allowed it, I would have hired my husband
- to fill an open position I had a year ago. And he has done unpaid work for
- me on several occasions, working side-by-side with the engineers who work
- for me. He was qualified to do the work, I needed the help, and so, after
- asking my staff if they minded (and their uniform response was "Are you
- crazy? We need all the help we can get!"), I begged him to help. Is this
- wrong because he sleeps with me?
