  20. Open question:  Is there a good way for the man in this situation to
  21. figure out what is going on (assuming that, for whatever reason, the
  22. woman is unwilling to tell him directly)?  Does he look for subtle clues
  23. like "Oh goodness, look at the time, I really must go home and floss the
  24. cat"?
