  31. You know what struck me the most about Matt's post - somewhere up there at
  32. the top which Kenn so kindly deleted so that we didn't heve to see it a
  33. second time, Matt said that his post wasn't one of those anonymous
  34. personals. Its almost like he actually caught on to the fact that something
  35. about those anonymous personals was objectionable, too bad he settled on
  36. the "wrong" part being the anonymous element.

  38. I have this sinking feeling that trying to stem the tide of these personal
  39. adds is a losing battle. I mean somewhere out there amidst the 80,000 plus
  40. readers of this newsgroup, there are probably people who are of a like
  41. enough mentality with ole Matt and other posters of s.s personal ads that
  42. they will actually respond to these ads. This may, in the minds of some
  43. misguided potential posters, make the abuse and public humiliation that 
  44. these ads induce tolerable.

  46. This is wrong thinking and this is why.

  48. I want all potential personal ad posters (add ppap's to the FAQ Trygve) to
  49. be forewarned that only a person who is scum will answer any ad posted in 
  50. s.s. So if and only if you are willing to accept scum go ahead and post. 
  51. If the responder is a woman she will be so ugly, mean-spirited, desperate and 
  52. stupid that even her mother has given up trying to get her a date. If the
  53. responder is male then his only purpose will be to find someone to pay his
  54. bills, wash his underware, trim his toe nails and generally tend to his
  55. every need. It goes without saying that he has to be completely unappealing
  56. or he would not be desperate enough to answer the ad in the first place
  57. since he knows that he will be competing with every first-year college geek
  58. that's discovered that the net exists.
