  30.    a grammatical quarrel, merely an orthographic one (the charge of
  31.    vaugeness is a semantic complaint).

  34.    all-too-frequent typos (not that I would expect anyone with a
  35.    penchant for prescriptive grammar to allow me to invent the word
  36.    usurous (typo was "usurious") an adjectival form of "use") and not on
  37.    the propositions at hand.  Even if I was just butt-stupid about
  38.    english, single errors in a clear context are a different manner of
  39.    beast from deliberate vaguaries and cutsie running-together words,
  40.    aren't they?

  42. Mitzi, it's awfully hard not to take your use of "usurious" in context
  43. as your knowing the word was considered perjorative but not knowing that
  44. it means "lending at an excessive rate of interest".  It's even harder
  45. to figure out what the fuck using "userous" as an adjectival form of use
  46. in that sentence is supposed to mean.  Was it something like "speaking
  47. with someone for the purpose of inciting sex is like 'using' them and
  48. inherently unclassy"?

  50. And, no, actually, single errors in context are sometimes -- as here --
  51. much harder to follow than a pattern of experimental usage, because
  52. there's no redunancy to let us know you aren't just butt-stupid about
  53. English.  Drieux' peculiar, arch, sarcastic posts are clearly not to
  54. everyone's taste, but they're clearly purposeful; typoing a made up and
  55. already unclear word like "userous" into "usurious" just looks ignorant.
