- Suggestion Box: What to do on Valentine's Day (HUMOROUS)
-
- NB: Some of these may actually be real serious suggestions, but they at
- least sound to me pretty fun(ny).
- *************** General suggestions **********************
- 1a. Things involving ex.
- A) Is this time to invest in some Armor-all for the shredded heart?
- B) Gee, Soldiers Fortune has a nice .45 for sale this month....
-
- 1b. Things involving sheep.
- A) Yes, I have a date. Her name is Maaaaaaaaary.
- B) Flowers are a great way to say "I love ewe."
-
- 1c. Things involving alcohol
- A) Escape for the day to Margaritaville
- B) Pass the Bar Exam: or, nothin' says lovin' like barfin' and shovin'
- C) February 13th: a nice night to go In Search Of (Leonard Nemoy
- optional)

- 2a. I don't remember where it came from - perhaps the comic strip
- "Cathy," but for the last 3-4 years, single folks in our office wear
- black on Valentine's Day.
- hansenr@ohsu.EDU (Robert Hansen)
- 2b. A couple of single guys and ladies all "celebrate" the fact of being
- single by observing Black Sunday (since it falls on a Sunday this year).
- Everyone in our group wears black for the whole day, and that night look
- at romantic thriller movies. Sounds kinda corny and all of that, but it
- beats looking at lovey-dovey couples going to whereever.
- jlfelton@eos.ncsu.edu (Johnny L. Felton)
-
- 3. [Well, it's not for everyone, but we're having our second child
- baptized on Valentine's day. Having 2 children together is an
- expression of committment or the need to be committed! (as in, committed
- to an insane asylum)]
- We usually make heart shaped pizza and stay home and be silly.
- kapa@ihlpf.att.com (Kate Perkins)
-
- 4. Hmmmm.....wait and grow old. Why? My birthday is Feb15. ;-)
- sploke@undergrad.math.uwaterloo.ca (Swee Loke)
-
- 5. ++ Couples ++
- One time, I only had a dollar to my name, and it was an extremely warm
- Valentine's Day, so we went to the grocery store and bought a loaf of
- bread and fed the ducks at a local park. We both decided that the ducks
- liked her better...

-
- 6. $$$ Cheap, fun thing $$$
- Send the girl <<assume girlfriend>> out to do the laundry and stick a bunch
- of new lingerie in the load.
- aclark@qualcomm.com (Sparky)
-
- *************** Groups and party tricks ***********************
- 1. +++ SINGLE WOMEN +++
- Throw a "Henna and Mud" party. Invite several other single female
- friends over, with everyone bringing their favorite cuticle remover and
- nailpolish, face cream, waxing kits, hair painting glop, etc. Spent the
- day/evening watching "girl" movies (Anne of Green Gables, Gone with the
- Wind, Hot Studs at Play, etc.). Make huge pitchers of sickeningly sweet
- blender drinks. Get stupid, gossip, and complain about men. Once
- you're all devastatingly gorgeous, call a cab, go to the local bar, and
- giggle with your friends while ignoring the drooling truckdrivers.
- robin@severian.chi.il.us (Robin Carkhuff)
-
- 2. ++ Singles ++
- A singles-only pity/toga party?
- AMANDAR%EARLHAM.BITNET@UICVM.UIC.EDU
-
- *************** Things for the ages ************************
- 1a. (Teenagers)
- Went to the Basketball game and left before the dance afterwards.
- 1b. (College undergrads/20s)
- We went out cruising.
