  21. Actually, I'm starting to get the distinct impression that there's an
  22. intelligent, entertaining, and interesting guy hiding beneath Ed's 
  23. thorny exterior--indeed, if he doesn't start working a lot harder at
  24. keeping others away, I may find myself liking him at any moment.

  26. And if that happens--well, then there's a pretty good chance that there
  27. will be others who are more Ed's type (plumbing-wise being perhaps the
  28. most important) who will feel the same and he'll have to start dealing 
  29. with letters from interested women who really don't care what he looks
  30. like but are intrigued by the wit and diversity of interests he 
  31. occasionally lets us get a glimpse of.

  33. What I still wonder about is why Ed appears to feel the need to keep
  34. others away so strongly--and so far he hasn't responded when I've asked
  35. him.  (Hiya, Ed, doncha love the way we're psychoanalyzing you behind
  36. your back right in front of you?)
