  33. For my part, a need to feel superior (or, at least, the sorts of
  34. superiour that lead to habitual contempt, putdowns, and whatnot, as
  35. opposed to the striving after excellence that some are stricken with)
  36. usually creeps up on me when I'm scared; very often when I'm scared
  37. that someone will notice I'm loathsome.

  39. Thankfully, my capacity to believe I'm loathsome has been diminishing
  40. over time.
