- Dear soc.motss friends,
- It is me again, posting about sexual harassment among queers. Honey, I
- know that there is plenty of harassment within our communities. We are NOT
- family, except perhaps a dysfunctional one. There is bi phobia, femme phobia,
- sm phobia, piercing phobia, etc, etc. What I am talking about are situations
- where...oh, let's say...a female professor 2 times her student's age tells her
- that she loves her, flirts with her, plays up her bisexuality, buys her
- an expensive gift and gives her a sex toy catalogue. Situations like when one
- dyke puts another in a rope leash and won't let her out and pulls her face
- close to the captive one to undo the rope. That sort of stuff.
- I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I am feeling really frustrated,
- feeling like my girlfriend and I are the only ones doing anything about this
- stuff. I can see how our homophobic society makes it more difficult to achieve
- justice in these cases, and how homophobia can make sexual motivations between
- queers inappropriate, but since we are a strong population (and getting
- stronger), one would think that we could organize to make this well known.
- Despite my alienation, I still think that there are others who are dealing with
- these traumatic situations.
- If any one has any info, or wants to relate their experience to be used
- in an on-campus discussion, please post on the net, or e-mail me. I will keep
- all names confidential, upon request.
-
- Thanks,
-
