  14. Well, we can not afford to be sure that the congress will let
  15. the president lift the ban.  It could be a big mistake if we sit
  16. back and just assume that everything will be OK.  That's not how
  17. civil rights were one in the 60's.  Not to discount all the work
  18. people have already done.  The rest of us, (me too) have to 
  19. get off our duffs.

  21. I have *never* called a Congressman, Senator, etc., even though
  22. I am out.  I get nervous when I call someone like this, don't know
  23. what to say.

  25. But today I did my share and called:
  26.     General Powell
  27.     Les Aspin
  28.     Senator Arlen Specter (PA)
  29.     Pentagon Public Affairs office
  30.  
  31. Haven't reached the White House yet.
  32.  
  33. But I have to point out that I not an "activist" but feel very
  34. strongly that we not be making assumptions about what Congress
  35. will and won't do.  We have a lot of people against us.
