- Well, we can not afford to be sure that the congress will let
- the president lift the ban. It could be a big mistake if we sit
- back and just assume that everything will be OK. That's not how
- civil rights were one in the 60's. Not to discount all the work
- people have already done. The rest of us, (me too) have to
- get off our duffs.
-
- I have *never* called a Congressman, Senator, etc., even though
- I am out. I get nervous when I call someone like this, don't know
- what to say.
-
- But today I did my share and called:
- General Powell
- Les Aspin
- Senator Arlen Specter (PA)
- Pentagon Public Affairs office
-
- Haven't reached the White House yet.
-
- But I have to point out that I not an "activist" but feel very
- strongly that we not be making assumptions about what Congress
- will and won't do. We have a lot of people against us.
-
- Thanks to everyone who has called.
