  20. Powell is very careful to differentiate between racial integration and
  21. allowing openly homosexual people to serve. He refers to racial
  22. differences as "benign" as opposed to homosexuals who "define
  23. themselves by their behavior". And I am sure that he really believes
  24. this rot, else how could he live with this position?

  26. The vast majority of homosexual people who have been separated from the
  27. military because of orientation have been done so not because of
  28. behavior, but because of admitting to a "propensity to prohibited
  29. behavior". But this has as much validity as accepting Arthur Hu's
  30. assertion that blacks have a propensity toward crime and then barring
  31. them from service.

  38. A spokesman for the military's position last night on ABC's Nightline
  39. ran these circular arguments around the track a few more times. He
  40. brought up AIDS and statistical indications that homosexuals as a group
  41. are unstable. All in all, it is completely reminiscent of the old
  42. garbage used against the concept of racial integration.

  44. It will be interesting to see what the Supreme Court says, since that
  45. is where I believe it will finally end up.
