  23. The Scenario:  Mr. Jones, middle-aged, married, two kids. He comes
  24. home one night pissed, drunk and horny. Mrs. Jones is out spending 
  25. some time alone with her friends. Around midnight Mr. Jones, now
  26. even more pissed, drunk and horny goes into his son's bedroom;
  27. beats him, rapes him; and then proceeds to his daughter's bedroom 
  28. where he does the same to her.

  30.          --  What are your conclusions? --

  32. A. That Mr. Jones is a HOMOSEXUAL because he had sex with his son.
  33.    Moral: HOMOSEXUALS rape children and should not be allowed to
  34.    have any job having to do with children.

  36. B. That Mr. Jones is a BISEXUAL because he had sex with both his kids.
  37.    Moral: BISEXUALS rape children and should not be allowed to have 
  38.    any job having to do with children.

  40. C. That Mr. Jones is a PEDOPHILE because he had sex with his kids.
  41.    Moral: PEDOPHILES rape children and should not be allowed to have
  42.    any job having to do with children.

  44. D. That Mr. Jones is into S & M because he beats his kids before 
  45.    raping them. Moral: People who are into S & M rape children 
  46.    and should not be allowed to have any job having to do with 
  47.    children.

  49. E. That Mr. Jones is someone who has beaten and raped his children. 
  50.    Moral: People who beat and rape children and should not be allowed
  51.    to have any job having to do with children.

  54. Not that many years ago Anita Bryant held a successful campaign 
  55. to deny gays and lesbians their civil rights. She called her cause
  56. "Save Our Children". Her argument was, that since homosexuals were
  57. unable to procreate, the only way to perpetuate their kind was to
  58. recruit children to become gay or lesbian. Ignorant, bigoted and 
  59. prejudice people believed her, and many good people suffered as a
  60. result.

  62. Today Anita Bryant's accusations are considered ridiculous, and 
  63. we find it difficult to conceive how anyone could believe such 
  64. nonsense.

  66. But now the bigots have found a new scapegoat. Their argument is:
  67. if someone sexually abuses a child then they must be a pedophile. 
  68. It's wrong to abuse kids thus it must be wrong to be a pedophile.
  69. It's also wrong to be a homosexual- homosexuals must be pedophiles.
  70. Therefore, it's ok to deny gays, pedophiles and other sexual minorities
  71. employment, housing, and equal protection under the law.

  73. DON'T LET THE BIGOTS CONFUSE OR INTIMIDATE YOU.

  75. THEY ARE APPEALING TO OUR FEARS TO CREATE A HYSTERIA 
  76. TO HIDE THEIR TRUE AGENDA.

  78. It is illegal to sexually abuse children and people who commit illegal 
  79. acts should have to face the consequences of their behavior.

  81. This should not be a justification, however, for denying civil rights 
  82. to others who have committed no such crimes no matter what their sexual 
  83. orientation.

  95. Pedophilia is a sexual orientation.   Sexual abuse is an illegal assault.

  97. 1) The people described in the journal article committed sexual abuse, 
  98.    they did not "commit pedophilia".
  99.  
  100. 2) People who do not commit illegal acts should not be discriminated against.
  101.    (We are in agreement there.)
  102.  
  103. 3) We do not need "a better way to determine whether anyone is a pedophile, 
  104.    gay or straight". What we do need is less hysteria, so that people will
  105.    not fear or pre-judge others just because they may be different.
