- In article <18460@autodesk.COM> mickw@autodesk.com (Mick
- Washbrook) himself a bit of a fox, writes, wolfishly:
-
- >Ah, well, that's dog owners for you, isn't it? I mean,
- >doesn't the very word itself encapsulate that essence of the
- >creature: D-O-G. Dog-tired. Throw a ball, it brings it
- >back to you. Throw the ball, it comes back. Throw. Back.
- >Throw. Back. Throwback. Happy creatures, dumb as a stick.
- >Drooling constantly. Will run after cars as soon as look at
- >one. What greater symbol of the Republican regime could we
- >ask for--dumb loyalty. Good boy, Ollie, here's your bone.
-
- Oh honey, what you said! Now you'll get sacks of dog-dooey
- in the mail. (I loved the 'throwback' lead-in; that was
- great!)
-
- On the other hand, I've known some dog people that I really
- liked. My incredibly gorgeous neighbor Stuart across the
- street has a dog that's half collie and half husky. She is
- really a pretty dog, and she adores me. Of course, she's
- not *real* bright, so maybe I shouldn't be too flattered.
- And lemme tell ya, Stuart is not about to get a reading test
- from me; if he adores me, that will be just fine (he does,
- by the way, we've just celebrated ten years of being
- friends). Not bad for a straight boy.
-
- I think dogs are right to chase cars, by the way. Cars are
- really bad things, and they *should* be chased. Have you
- noticed how well it works? Most cars that get chased go
- away.
-
- >Cat-lovers are a different breed entirely, and--though the
- >media won't stress it too strongly--having Socks the cat in
- >the White House instead of that dumb mutt (I mean Millie,
- >not Georgie) is the most significant change in consciousness
- >in this whole circus show. Hedonistic, independent,
- >self-interested, sneaking out for the catnip to get
- >righteously stoned (but don't inhale, ok,) but *very*
- >environmentally aware--yes, things are looking up.
-
- I'd only admit it here, where nobody's listening, and I
- really disapprove of single-issue politics, but actually I
- voted for Socks, not Bill. If only I could get Stuart to
- sneak over here (he'd have to, I think Barb would not
- approve) and get stoned and we could meow-mix it up a
- little, oh baby. My kitty attacks him, which is something I
- would like to do m'self. She has taste. He was a varsity
- gymnast here.
