  21. In all due respect: baloney.  You need some basic civics.
  22. This is a republic, not a tyranny of the majority.  The will
  23. of the people often needs to be tempered by some
  24. intelligence and common sense, not to mention some concern
  25. for minority interests.  If you want to complain about the
  26. generally poor performance of most elected officials, I'll
  27. be happy to join you, but the basic idea is *not* that
  28. popular desires are the only values to be acted upon.
