- In all due respect: baloney. You need some basic civics.
- This is a republic, not a tyranny of the majority. The will
- of the people often needs to be tempered by some
- intelligence and common sense, not to mention some concern
- for minority interests. If you want to complain about the
- generally poor performance of most elected officials, I'll
- be happy to join you, but the basic idea is *not* that
- popular desires are the only values to be acted upon.
