- According to Greg King of the Human Rights Campaign Fund, in
- Washington DC, Melissa Etheridge, that wonderful rocker, chose
- the Triangle Ball this week to Come Out as a lesbian. He told me
- this evening that she announced to the whole, very public
- gathering, in front of tv cameras, that she had chosen that event
- to make it clear she had been a lesbian all her life.
-
- Two days earlier she was the first woman performer to appear in
- the American Reunion Celebration, before the President-elect at
- the Lincoln Monument.
-
- Ealier this year there was speculation that, as she moved
- increasingly into the mainstream, she was becoming less inclined
- to associate herself with events that had lesbian connections.
- This followed her being unable, apparently, to find the time to
- appear for the forthcoming March on Washington.
-
- Perhaps that may now change.
-
- A great performer just got miles better.
