  25. May I interject here? This brings up an interesting point, and I will most
  26. likely get into all kinds of shit for saying this, BUT, the thought behind
  27. what I am about to say is what is most important....(God, what a disclaimer!)

  29. IMHO, one of the reasons that there is such a problem between races in the
  30. south is exaclty what you said: most gay men of color aren't merely closeted,
  31. they're in the shoebox under the floorboards.... We don't know you! I have
  32. never been a racist, and I wish I had more friends of color. I enjoy the
  33. diversity, I also enjoy the commonality that we share. But there are so few
  34. men of color who are active in the community that I'm not given that 
  35. opportunity.  It's kind of like if you don't have the exposure to someone or
  36. some thing, then you have nothing to go on but the stereotypes because you
  37. haven't experienced the reality. I try not to think that way, but I know
  38. people do, and sometimes I am equally guilty.
