- Well, this is all nice in theory but when exactly do you
- suppose we will get marriage removed from state involvement,
- en toto? It is so intertwined in the fabric of law and society
- that I don't think we could even understand its extent unless
- we legalized it for whomever wanted to make that sort of compact.
- As far as heinous statist intrusions into person liberty goes
- marriage isn't, at it's core, necessarily all that bad of one.
- (if one looks at it as a boilerplate contract with a generally
- agreed upon set of rules). The inequity of marriage laws is
- that they are exclusionary to non-het partnerships. It would
- be far easier to just legalize it (and probably 10e9 times
- more likely of happening).
