  23. You make some good points.  It seems to me that another
  24. contributing factor is that within limits, being closeted
  25. works; you can get by, in most cases.  And if there's
  26. substance to the widely-held belief that at least white
  27. males among the LGB clan are realtively well off
  28. financially, that would further support your contention.

  30. I have no way of knowing, but yet another factor mitigating
  31. against pro-LGB activism is that probably something like 2/3
  32. of our people are in the closet and of them maybe half
  33. deeply so.  Even if we had dynamic national leadership
  34. figures, these closeted elements might not give much
  35. support.

  40. Nice as it would be for that to be true, and though I'm
  41. generally a fairly optimistic person, I'm not that sure
  42. we're winning much or that we'll continue to do so.

  44. I think there's an actual civil war brewing.  The goal of
  45. the religious right is not just to suppress LGB people.
  46. It's to completely take over the United States, to make it a
  47. Christian (in their perverted sense), fascist country.
