- I loved the LDS sequence in the season premiere, and Odo
- shows great promise.

- It has been established that Odo is a sort of orphan. He does not know his
- origins. He is a total outsider to the human spectrum of beings, can
- shapeshift at will, and maintains the form you see as Odo for the
- convenience of teh humans. Since he has the capability of taking any form he
- wishes, gender really has little meaning in his case. That coupled with the
- DAX factor ( DAX was an old man the last time Sisko worked with.. they
- worked together) It could be that they are positioned to say a lot about
- gender and social interaction with characters like these.
- rememebr that the last time a character of Dax's race was in ST/TNG, it was
- the episode with a gender bender theme too)
