- As already pointed out, this is the case in a civilian firing squad
- (Utah).

- Also, I believe when NJ switched from the electric chair to lethal
- injection, the articles describing the equipment said that there were
- two sets of switches and needles (the injection of the chemicals
- into the saline solution is done indirectly; the needles are mounted
- in a housing and pushed by a mechanical switch that's activated
- electrically), for the doubt factor.

- Finally, I don't know reality based this is, but a new twilight zone
- episode a number of years ago (the story was a remake of one that
- was on Rod Serling's original show) showed that for a hanging, the
- trap door was opened electrically and that there were three people
- who each pushed a button or threw a switch, but only one was connected
- to the trap door. The gallows used were pretty close to the description
- of the gallows in Washington State, so I wonder how accurate the
- trapdoor mechanism description was.
