- "Pegasus" makes some good points about studying history on a holistic
- level. I think the first poster was more concerned about just jamming
- *facts* into his head. Without disagreeing with Pegasus, I think raw
- facts are indeed important and difficult to remember, and are not always
- digested within the holistic approach. I used to make a two-column
- sheet on which the left column was questions such as "Date of so-and-so"
- or "Prime ministers under Victoria". I'd cover the right column and
- keep going over the sheet until I could say all the answers. This is a
- labor-intensive approach that you use for the facts you *must* know.
