  25. I am amazed by the blatent racism of this thesis -- that the system is
  26. the "White Male System" and that "white males" are as a class harder
  27. to be nondiscriminatory than other types of males ("constantly having 
  28. to overcome their feelings of superiority", etc.)  The racism here is clear
  29. -- men are REALLY bad only if they are white, and no white man
  30. can REALLY be good.  This racism is unfortunate for two reasons:
  31.  a) much of what Schaef describes of how some men and some women
  32.     react is important, and that import is both diminished and 
  33.     made easier to reject by Schaef's continued racist retoric;
  34.  b) by explicitly identifying the societal preassures against women
  35.     as "the white male system", Schaef allows non-white oppressors
  36.     of women to justify themselves as "see -- I'm not so bad"
  37.  
  38. The UN studies on the status of women make it quite clear
  39. that oppression of women is NOT a White Male System -- it is pandemic 
  40. across cultures.  Does anyone know of evidence (not theory -- evidence)
  41. that a significant difference exists in the difficulty of training out 
  42. sexism in white men, white women, non-white men or non-white women?
