  30. A very large number of these organisations are now under *very* heavy
  31. pressure to admit women as well.  Soon, they will, I am sure.  And I
  32. *do* consider this a good thing - a very good thing.  However, I do
  33. not as yet see as organised an attempt to pressure women-only
  34. organisations to also admit men.  With the exception of some
  35. women-only YMCA pools, I have heard of no other attempts to open
  36. women-only organisations and/or services to men.  I therefore foresee
  37. a time when all men-only groups will have been pressured to accept
  38. women, while at that time, there will still be a large and possibly
  39. growing number of women-only groups which, if approached, would say
  40. "But that's different!".

  42. Needless to say, my opinion is thus - If men-only organisations should
  43. be required to admit women (and I believe that they should), then
  44. women-only organisations should also be required to admit men.

  53. How about EMILY's List?  Certainly, I don't recall them having
  54. supported any male candidates?  There are also a large and growing
  55. number of women- only business and professional associations.  Indeed,
  56. in Ontario, where there is an Association of School Teachers (I don't
  57. recall the *exact* name), there is also an Association of Women
  58. Teachers, which recently refused to accept men.  This is *quite*
  59. ironic, because women are the *vast majority* of Ontario school
  60. teachers.  It would be like firefighters starting an Association of
  61. Men Firefighters!

  63. At any rate, isn't Emily's List *enough*?  Indeed, I don't recall any
  64. groups that went out of their way to support male candidates, *solely*
  65. because of their gender.
