- The tone is not really inviting discussing but jus quote the Newspapers.
- I would like to commen on the latest news.
-
- Dr. Mahathir will pass the constitutional amendment even without the
- concent of the Kings, contrary to the constitution.
-
- DAP do not vote in the end because of this discrepency. The rule of law
- should be obeyed and Lim Kit Siang agree to this even though he dislike
- the ruling, after all he is still a lawyer.
-
- : fleets of cars, must go. Special wards in hospitals reserved for the
- : royalty would be open to the public. Dr Mahathir would no longer seek a
-
- It would mean that the kings will not even be entittled to what an ordinary
- citizen can get.
- : weekly audience with the king. There would be no more state funds for
- : the upkeep of royal yachts, and no more allocations for work on royal
- : homes.
-
- : By the end of last week, Dr Mahathir had moved forward the big guns. In
- : future, he said, funds would be given to the royalty only in strict
- : accordance with regulations. In effect, this means the withdrawal of
- : many millions of dollars from the royal purses.
-
- : Each day fuller stories of alleged royal misdemeanours have emerged.
- : One sultan is said to have been in the habit of opening fire on vehicles
- : careless enough to come close to royal motorcades. Another is said to
- : have sold timber concessions worth millions of dollars to pay debts.
- The properties of the kings are the property of the state governments.
- By letting the property rot, will be a great disservice to the state.
-
- How about the governers, the yang di pertuan negaras of Sabah, Sarawak, are
- they also not entittled for the privileges?
- Why should the kings be the only ones targeted? Shouldn't the other
- heads of states also affected?
-
- Question of immunity only during official duties is very hard to establish so
- was not implemented in all other countries. Do you know that the President of
- Singapore also have full immunity? So are the other heads of state in Malaysia,
- and other commonwealth nations, and even all the royalty of the Britain, unlike
- Malaysia where the immunity is only for the Sultans.
-
-
- : There have been tales of manslaughter and in one case, murder, with
- : allegations made in parliment that a sultan killed his golf caddie.
- This was a very old story but only come out now. You may wonder why?
