- Pardon me--poor phrasing. Add the word "retrospectively" to what I said.
- (I do consider the German bans on membership in organizations to be
- anti-democratic, to say nothing of the 1972 Berufsverbot, btw.) To
- make SS membership illegal *in retrospect* -- after all, nobody
- belonged to the SS when the post-war trials happened -- is quite different
- from banning an organization *at the time.*
