- I have some question on FTP for you folks out there.
-
- 1. I have tried to collect statistic data during a FTP session, such
- as how many bytes have been received/transerred, in how long, and
- at what speed. All these information will normally appear in the
- user screen when ftp was invoked interactively by the user. What
- I meant here is that user will type in all ftp commands and their
- arguments from the keyboard during the ftp session. However, when
- I tried to have the ftp took its commands and their arguments from
- a script file, all the above information disappear. Can someone
- tell me why.
- 2. After failed to collect these data from the standard output, I
- obtained a copy of the ftp source codes and modified the portion
- that I believed would output the information. I thought this will
- do the trick. Will, it failed me again. Now, I seemed to me that
- whenever ftp takes a command and its arguments from a source rather
- than the standard input( keybobard ) interactively, all the above
- data will disappear. Can someone comments on this? It there some
- option that will trigger ftp not output those information?
-
- 3. Given the above situation, what options do I have to collect the
- data but I must take the ftp commands aand their arguments from
- a script file.
-
- all your comments will be greatlly appreciated.
