  16. (1) INTRODUCTION
  17.  
  18.     In recent years, economic and political changes have brought
  19. unprecedent exchanges to Taiwan and Mainland China.  Yet the interaction
  20. comes with hightened hope and many unsolved problems.  We believe that
  21. academic approach is necessary and valuable in order to propose objective
  22. solutions and to achieve long term development.  The conference on
  23. Taiwan-Mainland China relation will be held at Yale Univeristy, New
  24. Haven, Connecticut on April 3, 1993.  Your attendance is greatly
  25. appreciated.

  27.     The conference is organized by Yale Mainland-Taiwan Society
  28. (YMTS), which was established by the faculty, students, and alumni of Yale
  29. University, and is co-sponsored by Yale Council on East Asian Studies,
  30. Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, and Yale-China
  31. Association.  The conference will focus on issues of culture, economics,
  32. politics, and science and technology.  Speakers are invited from Taiwan,
  33. Mainland China, and the United States.  All the presentations will be
  34. enclosed in our future publications.
