- (1) INTRODUCTION
-
- In recent years, economic and political changes have brought
- unprecedent exchanges to Taiwan and Mainland China. Yet the interaction
- comes with hightened hope and many unsolved problems. We believe that
- academic approach is necessary and valuable in order to propose objective
- solutions and to achieve long term development. The conference on
- Taiwan-Mainland China relation will be held at Yale Univeristy, New
- Haven, Connecticut on April 3, 1993. Your attendance is greatly
- appreciated.

- The conference is organized by Yale Mainland-Taiwan Society
- (YMTS), which was established by the faculty, students, and alumni of Yale
- University, and is co-sponsored by Yale Council on East Asian Studies,
- Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, and Yale-China
- Association. The conference will focus on issues of culture, economics,
- politics, and science and technology. Speakers are invited from Taiwan,
- Mainland China, and the United States. All the presentations will be
- enclosed in our future publications.
