- Er, might I point out that France the Benelux and Germany are
- significantly better off than the UK and their living standards
- have improved at a faster rate leaving poor old Blighty behind.
-
- I think this mught have a lot to do with how well the country is
- governed, (I am of course open to suggestions as to what other reasons there
- might be). Regardless of who gets elected in UK they end up making an
- absolute dogs breakfast of the whole thing sooner or later.
-
- The labour party are just a total bunch of losers, who make a load of
- promises they could not possibly keep, other than pandering to their trade
- union masters.
-
- The tories under Mrs T did a lot of good things for a while (some not so
- good as well might I add) but then just lost the plot.
-
- The continentals seem to have fared rather better.

-
- Bullshit. It would take a lot of power out of the hands of politicians
- and into the market. A huge financial barrier to cross border trade in
- europe would be eliminated. It would also so anti-inflationary.
-

-
- Politicians are a bunch of deviants, especially in the UK.
- Though not as bad as aussies. I trust them as far as I could comfortably
- spit a rat. Dilution of their power is generally a good thing, provided
- it does not lead to excessive tiers of decision making.
-
- >1. The Monarchy is an anachronysm.
-
- True but lots of us still like the Queen and the Queen Mum.
-

-
- Here here!
-
- >4. If England votes to be an island unto itself - fine! But don't include
- > Scotland, N. Ireland and Wales.
-
- Ditto. English government has served Wales and Scotland badly.
- But I'm not sure we would have done a hell of a lot better ourselves.
- Like I said the continentals seem to know how to do it better.
-
- >5. I would rather have the European Parliament in charge than the brainless
- > English Conservatives that have been in charge for the last 14 years.
-
- I'm forced to agree. But even then they could not fix the bloody awful
- weather, it really does suck.
-
- >6. A common currency makes lots of sense in a free trade zone (the notes don't

-
- My sentiments exactly.
-
- >7. You are not living there, so why are you so upset ?
-
- Yes Dave why are you so upset. Must be the Canadian winter perhaps,
- getting people nostalgic for all that drizzle.
-
- I'm just glad I came down under, here we go after 3
-
- Australians all let us rejoice, for we are young and free;
- We've golden soil and wealth for toil; our home is girt by sea.
- Our land abounds in Nature's gifts of beauty rich and rare;
- In history's page, let every stage advance Australia Fair.
- With joyful strains then let us sing, advance Australia Fair!
-
- Beneath our radiant Southern Cross we work with hearts and hands
- To make this Commonwealth of ours renowned in all the lands.
- For those who've come across the seas we've boundless wealth to share;
- With courage then let us unite to advance Australia fair.
- With joyful strains then let us sing, advance Australia Fair!
-
- -Just thought you ought to know thats all...
-
- -Jonathan.
