- In the US, most newspapers (with the notable excpetion of The New York Times,
- The Wall Street Journal and USA Today) are local. For example, Chicago has 2
- main local daily newspapers.

- Consequently, becuase each area will have only a couple of papers, they have to
- cover a wider ranger of readers than the national British newspapers, with the
- result that very few us locals are as "heavy" as The Independent or as
- down-market as The Sun.

- This is why British newspapers seem so extreme to Americans - they're national.
