  18. I cannot say I support the neo-colonialism, because I don't.

  20. Personally I completely disagree with their approach to
  21. the "Gulf War", and now this.  It really makes me embarrased
  22. to be an American.
  23.     The facts are not always twisted, they are sometimes
  24. outright lies.  A certain previous president of the U.S. exemplified
  25. that to me.  By comparing Kuwait to "a harmless puppy dog"
  26.  
  27. But to answer your question:
  28. The facts in our media in the U.S. are commonly twisted, as
  29. is are in medias across the world.  The point is that they
  30. are trying to do a number of things:
  31.  
  32. 1. Justify their actions.
  33.     In the U.S.  I feel:
  34.     - to gain a foot hold in the Arab Nations
  35.     - To maintain access to major oil supplies
  36.     - Justify military spending to the U.S. citizens.
  37.     - To hopefully spark the economy.
  38. 2. Gain support of the country.
  39.     - The false or twisted "news" is used to get citizens up
  40.       in arms, support the military in whay I think is typically
  41.       blind ignorance.
  42.     - The country would fight against the war often if they actually
  43.       believed or knew we where doing things out of aggression
  44.       or perhaps (I would like to think) out of gread.
  45. 3. Boost morale.
  46.     - To see that we are doing something "good for the world"
  47.       makes many people happy.
  48.       (Much more than we went and blasted some people, for no
  49.        more reason then to show how "tough" we are).
  50.        (which a certain portion of the population would like
  51.         a seem to associate these people with police, basically
  52.         people on power trips).
