-
- I agree that the tradition is a bit old-fashioned, and my feeling
- is that if the woman wants to take the man's name (for the sake of
- tradition or maybe she likes the name better, whatever) then fine.
- If she wants to keep her birth name, then fine. If both of them want
- to make up another name (and I know a couple who did this), then fine.
- If they want to use her name - well, you get my drift.
-
- I have another angle on this. When I got married, I eagerly took my
- husband's name because I detested my birth name, yeeeeech. I'm now
- divorced from Mr. Colucci but I kept his (now my) last name for the same
- reason, and also because I have a child who likes that he and his mom have
- the same name.
-
- So what if I remarry? Do I take his name out of tradition? Do I keep
- Colucci for my kid's sake (how many men would love it if their wife
- kept her ex-husband's name)?? Do I go back to my birth name? Or do
- I pick another name? :-)
-
- The possibilities seem endless here, and I'm at a loss for an answer.
