- The Casablanca conference ends. Roosevelt and Churchill announce that the
- Allied offensive strategy for 1943 has been set, with the goal of the
- unconditional surrender of the Axis nations. Secret plans have been made
- for the completion of the North African campaign and Operation Husky,
- an invasion of Sicily scheduled for June or July. Also planned are the
- reconquest of the Philippines and offensives in China and Burma.

- Field-Marshal von Manstein requests that Hitler order General Paulus to
- surrender his surrounded 6th Army, arguing that its continued suffering is
- of no value to the Germans. Hitler refuses.
