  12. I would like to do reseach on apparent resolution in function of pixel
  13. depth (bits/pixel).  Could someone forward me, or post the references on
  14. this subject?

  16. More specifically, I am interested in generating a high resolution binary
  17. image from a medium resolution gray scale image.  One immediate application
  18. for this technique is OCR where threshold-only-based binarization of the
  19. original image causes many problems including broken lines, etc.
