- I have 2 laptop batteries (and only 1 laptop ;-(( )
-
- The batteries cant be charged without placing them into the laptop and
- pluggin'-in the charger ::: i.e., the company does not manufacture
- a separate battery charger like the ones we are used to, for AA, AAA
- and D- size cells.
-
- To make things worse, each battery takes 5 to 6 Hrs to charge up. That will
- mean I have to wake up @ 3:00 AM to switch batteries, so that I have 2
- fully charged batteries for working on my thesis in the library from
- 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM (Intermittenly, typing something into the laptop).
-
- I have seen a lot of people discuss this on comp.sys.laptops much earlier...
-
- I bought a 6V 400mA ORDINARY AC adapter, and would like to use it to
- charge one of the batteries, while the other charges within the laptop.
-
- ((I am a student, and dont have money to have this made by somebody else.))
-
- The 24cm long battery of my laptop has the ratings : 4.8V 5000mA/h
-
- I know what 5000mA/h means, and I also know that continual charging of a
- NICD battery only makes it hot. So, should I hook the AC adapter to the
- battery (The extra bettery cost me $100 :-(( ) and hope everything
- works out well ?
-
- What are the problems of using a 6V AC Adapter to charge a 4.8 V NICD battery?
-
- And how do I POSSIBLY detect ``the end of charging'' using a multimeter, with
- the multimeter connected in series in the charging circuitry.
-
- Please answer whatever U can confidently answer about...
-
- email or usenet repleis are equally good....
-
- thanx a lot....
