  24. Dean, if capital costs for distributed systems are more than for
  25. central systems, then the fact that you need fewer central systems
  26. doesn't save you any money since you just replaced them with more
  27. expensive systems.

  29. Market pressure will follow Gresham's Law like it usually does.
  30. Consumers opt for the lowest up front costs rather than for the
  31. lowest lifetime costs. Thus the most efficient systems will be
  32. shunned since they usually have the highest up front costs.
  33. There's always a market for quality, but it's also a minority
  34. market.
