- After reading a few cynical posts ;) I thought I would note that it was
- Meade themselves who referred to some of their newtonian reflectors as
- "research grade". I believe that they used this term to differentiate
- between their line of inexpensive "Deep Space" reflectors (DS-10, DS-16)
- and their other line of newtonians which had more expensive tubes and
- somewhat better hardware. I'm not sure if these scopes had better
- optics (possibly the DS series had thinner mirrors?), but the tube
- itself is constructed of better materials.
