  12. After reading a few cynical posts ;)  I thought I would note that it was
  13. Meade themselves who referred to some of their newtonian reflectors as
  14. "research grade".  I believe that they used this term to differentiate
  15. between their line of inexpensive "Deep Space" reflectors (DS-10, DS-16)
  16. and their other line of newtonians which had more expensive tubes and
  17. somewhat better hardware.  I'm not sure if these scopes had better
  18. optics (possibly the DS series had thinner mirrors?), but the tube
  19. itself is constructed of better materials.
