-
- I've had a hand held power plane (black & decker bottom of the line $39) for
- several years now.
-
- It's farr too short to turn upside down and use as a jointer planer and I've
- had very poor luck trying to use it as a serface planer on any thing more than
- 4" wide.
-
- It's very good for trimming doors down to size (though mine didn't come with
- a 90 deg guide which is just about manditory for door trimming) and does a
- wonderful job of quickly camphering edges.
-
- It's a pretty good jack of all trades and I tend to use it as a special version
- of a belt sander.
-
- If your not doing doors I wouldn't recomend you spend the money on one (cheep
- or not); but, if your going to do doors make sure you get a 90 deg fence.
