- I must admit that I thought this was a silly thread but it's been
- fun reading about the projects that others are working on.
-
- My turn: Since I am just getting into this hobby, I decided my
- first "real" project should be a workbench. It is based loosely
- on the one in WOOD Magazine's Idea Shop article and on Norm's
- bench (in one of his NYW books - can't remember which one).
- It will use an old solid-core door for the top which will be
- topped by tempered hardboard.
-
- Question: Wood magazine recommends giving the bench an oil finish.
- Does this seem right? Would you apply any sort of finish over the
- hardboard? Since this is definitely not my dream bench (my next one
- will be :-) I am tempted to leave th whole thing unfinished. What
- sorts of finishes have others used on a workbench?
-
- Thanks!
- Pat
