- You seem to be ahead of me on carving. I have spent quite a lot of
- $$$ on tools, but am yet to put knife to wood. A bit apprehensive
- I suppose. So far I have just bought books and tools.

- Some thoughts on books I have that might help:
- Bridgewater and Bridgewater (1991). Carving totem poles and masks.
- Sterling Publishing, New York. Thorough designs based on Pacific
- (northwest) Indian items. How to lay out designs, use tools, etc.

- Slattum (1992). Masks of Bali. San Francisco, Chronicle Books.
- Just pictures, but if you can design from a picture, these are
- quite interesting if you like Balinese masks..which I truly do!

- Fine Woodworking on Carving (1986). Taunton Press, Newtown, CT.
- Carving all sorts of things. One chapter on masks.
