The key advantage of the 12v drill is the added torque produces. Driving 3" drywall screws into pine studs is not a problem for most of the 9.6v drills I use but driving 3/8" dia. 5" long lag screws will clearly demonstrate the added power of the 12v drills. In any case, if I were going to drive a lot of screws I would not abuse my cordless drills but would use a corded drill or, preferably, a drywall gun that is more suited to the task.
